Meet The Team

Susan Staples
Project Director
I am from the great state of Arizona. I'm a graduate of Moody Bible College. I've lived and worked in Thailand for over 20 years now. I enjoy traveling and meeting with various people (especially at coffee shops) and I love my "adopted" country of Thailand. I not only love Thai food, but Thai people as well. My passion is to see women grow in their understanding of who God created them to be and to rise up and serve God according to the gifts that He has given them.

"When we are children, we enjoy the happiness and fun of childhood, including our studies during that time. But as we grow up, our thinking matures. What often follows is that we begin comparing ourselves to others—or other people start comparing us to others. These things can have both positive and negative effects, but the negative impacts usually harm us more than anyone else. Therefore, beginning with knowing our worth in God becomes a strong shield and protection. It helps us to stand firm, to be content, and to take pride in ourselves in the way God has wonderfully created us. And I believe this is something that should truly begin within the family. Parents should instill in their children an understanding of their worth in God—their core and true value. (I had never really thought much about this myself, but after working with Shine, I’ve begun to see how important this is for my own children.) As a woman, I want to play a part in encouraging and building up other women so that we see our worth through the lens of Scripture, because that is the truth. I want us to guard our minds so they are not shaped by the values of this world. I am glad, and I hope, to have a part in strengthening your life so that you can grow and become strong in the Lord from the inside out."

"Hello! I’m Kik, the Women’s Shine activities staff member. I am responsible for helping prepare materials and leading activities for women’s and youth groups throughout Chiang Mai and all across Thailand. I also design brochures, help manage our Facebook page, and will help take care of our website in the future. I enjoy reading Christian literature, listening to worship music, singing, playing guitar and piano, making desserts, going to camps, and traveling to different places to serve the Lord, visit others, and encourage people. I thank God that I have the opportunity to serve Him through the Shine Women’s Project—activities for women and youth. I believe that God has given me wisdom, ability, knowledge, understanding, and peace in serving Him through the Shine Project. I am grateful to have a part in helping women and teenagers see their worth, align their thinking with God’s will, and use the gifts that He has given them. Amen."
